Boot Shoes – Footwears that Cover the Whole Foot and Lower Leg

The use and materials that boots are made of have evolved over the years, from serving as protective shoes to becoming a highly sought-after fashion accessory. Boots in ancient times were made of ceramic and animal hide, and now it is available in rubber, canvas and leather.

Boot Shoes - A Sneak Preview

Boots used to be a utility for floods, snow, mud and dirt. In cold places, boot shoes were built to provide warmth to the feet and legs. In warm places, boots are common among people who work in farms and ranches. They use equestrian boots such as riding boots, hunt boots, paddock boots and cowboy boots, which come in different signature designs. In the military, soldiers have different boot shoes for combat, including jump boots, which are worn by paratroopers in an airborne infantry. Although these functions are still true today, a lot of contemporary boot designs focus more on the aesthetics than practicality. Women’s boots, for instance, often have narrow heels and are worn in business and social affairs regardless of the weather conditions.

Boot Heels - Varieties

Most boots available on the market are designed with elevated heels, usually stilettos for women and wedges for men. Cowboy boot heels are normally one inch high, but some types are tailored to be shorter so that they feel more comfortable when used in walking. Fashion boots come in low- and high-heeled varieties. Designers have also come up with platform boot heels to maximize height. They consider high heels to be anything longer than 3.5 inches, while low heels in their industry measures less than 2.5 inches or 6 centimeters. Because some high-heeled boots have been found to cause problems in the feet and tendons, some manufacturers have developed ergonomic boots that can minimize pain from heeled boots.

Sneaker Boot - Features

Worn primarily as dress shoes, sneaker boots have shoe laces and elevated heels. The Chuck Taylor All-Stars from Converse and Cherry avenues’ Moxy brands are good examples of these boots. A sneaker boot can be cut low or reach as high as the calf. Some designs may be made of a combination of rubber and leather or canvas. In place of shoelaces, many modern high-cut sneakers are accentuated with belts, Velcro patches, buttons and zippers. These boots may also come in suede exteriors and padded collars for added comfort in the tendons. Another emerging trend is a shearling lining made of wool, which combines the looks of a sneaker, a boot and a coat.
