Make a V parting with the V pointing towards the back of your head. Separate this section into three strands. Cross the right hand over the middle strand and hold all three strands in distinct hand slots. Hold one section of hair from the right side and add to the right hand strand. Cross left hand strand over middle strand and hold all three strands separately. Hold one section of hair from the left side and add it to the left strand. Cross right hand strand over middle strand and hold all strands separately. Add right section of hair to right hand strand. Cross left strand over middle strand. In the next step of the French braiding procedure, add a left section of hair to left strand and repeat the above set of instructions as long as there is no more hair left to braid.
