Making Bracelets - A Fun Activity
It's a good idea to deviate from the regular stuff and try
making bracelets by yourself for friends, family and even try to sell them. For the uninitiated, start off by buying some simple bracelets and understanding how the designs and patterns work. You can even look for articles or videos that give tutorials about how to make different kinds of bracelets. There are so many occasions for which you can make bracelets; maybe personalized gifts for friends birthdays or friendship bands or even a Valentine's day gift. It's also a great craft project for children enjoying a long summer holiday, have some fun at a slumber party or even a hobby idea for scout groups. You can even shift the notch up a bit and start making jewelery. It's a good idea to have personalized jewelery bracelets, made out of silver, stones and other gems. If you're seriously thinking of making bracelets, this might be a good idea to spark off a new line of work.
Make String Bracelets - Learn the Art
The first things you require to make string bracelets are some lessons on how to knot different types of strings together. Once you learn the basic steps, you're ready to try out with a few trial runs. Now string bracelets look better with a lot of vibrant colors and patterns, so it's a good idea for you to read up on some easy patterns first. The candy-stripped pattern is the easiest for beginners and all you need are 3 or 4 strands of colored embroidery thread, a clipboard or masking tape or a pin to hold them in place and scissors. Look online for a tutorial on how to do the knotting, looping and braiding if you're not already aware of them. Some commonly used patterns are the Chevron, Zig Zag, Inverse Chevron, etc. The main criterion to
make string bracelets is the knotting. The basic knots are the forward and backward knots that are used in different ways to create a beautiful pattern. Remember that using a lot of different colors is great, but only if you know how to work the pattern or you might get too overwhelmed and confused.
Yarn Bracelets - Spin a Yarnly Tale
Yarn is a very handy product, not just for weaving or knitting, but crocheting, embroidery and even making arts and crafts. Yarn bracelets make a very interesting friendship band, especially if you want to add that bit of personal touch to it. Imagine how wonderful your friends would feel if you gifted them with a handmade friendship band, rather than a store bought one. And because of the numerous colors and textures available, a bracelet made of yarn would make really pretty gifts too. In fact, it would be a great idea to start a summer project with your kids, helping them to make different varieties of bracelets and then either give them as gifts to your friends and family, or even have a small little sale. Remember that there is no limit to the type of materials you can use, just make sure you don't have small beads or sharp scissors around the little ones.
