Vintage Crochet - Making Money from a Hobby

Engaging in the hobby of making vintage crochet is a past time of some people and makes idle time productive. A hobbyist also makes creations for one’s self according to his or her favorites or has personalized gifts for others. Products made of vintage crochet can also be sold to augment one’s income. These projects can be made based on the thinness or thickness of yarns which are numbered accordingly. The thinnest yarns are labeled 0 or lace which stands for fingering 10-count crochet thread. It is followed by super fine, fine, light, medium, bulky and super bulky yarns. Their use ranges from lightweight or fine clothing such as those for babies and sports garments to mats or rugs.

Vintage Crochet Patterns - Their Uses

Using vintage crochet patterns may call for the use of other stitches such as a cross treble stitch and a roll stitch. Cross trebles stitches can be integrated in making sweaters and other garments that may require beading. Some common vintage crochet patterns are afghan, Christmas and shawl patterns. They can be made into children’s clothes, baby blankets, doilies, doll clothes, hats, mittens, potholders and purses. They can also be made to adorn home interiors by making them into bedspreads, curtains, table runners, tablecloths and towel edgings. However, making them may need materials such as hooks, thread and yarn that are hard to find.
